Shoreline Roamers: Lore and Embodiment

Traditional East Coast hand-hooked rug making—characterized by utility, material reuse, and pictorial storytelling—is reconfigured into a collection of land-immersive masks and sculptures. Drawing on settler folklore, craft, and landscape, the work speculates on how woodland spirits might camouflage themselves and roam the wild. Some masks adopt animal characteristics, while all depict wild locations dear to me. As a collection, the pieces transport viewers to Canadian dreamscapes and shorelines.
